Welcome
Get afloat with your guide on the river: Michel Huigevoort
Fishing for predators has developed enormously over recent years. New insights, new techniques and new materials and tackle are introduced almost every day. When the passion for predator fishing has you in its steely grip it won’t let you go… Again and again we are challenged to add new dimensions to our sport - fishing for asp or fishing with a drop shot are only two examples that have arisen very recently.
For the predator angler the sky is the limit. Or so it seems. There are many ways to provoke the various species to hit our lures and baits by fishing with high-tech tackle and the latest techniques. This is what makes our hobby so special. Fishing from a boat on a well-stocked big river with the most modern equipment on board adds an extra dimension. Unfortunately not everyone can do this for themselves but now RiverGuide does offer you the opportunity to sample this most demanding, exciting and interesting predator fishing.
RiverGuide doesn’t just offer you an ordinary day’s fishing or just being taken to where there are a few fish and not just a day where only catching fish is important because that would do a disservice to our sport. Every day is matched to your special requirements whether to suit more experienced anglers or those that are taking their first steps into predator fishing.
Do you want to see how a sonar with side-imaging technology works? Or learn how to control a boat with various types of electric trolling motors? Do you want to fish on one of Holland’s most challenging and productive rivers? Learn how to cast with a multiplier or experience the art of fishing with jerkbaits? RiverGuide will do everything possible to make your fishing day a total predator experience.
Fishing Waters
Click on the map below for more information.
Haringvliet
This former sea arm starts where the Hollandsch Diep ends and finally runs into the North sea at the Haringvlietdam. Het Spui runs into the Haringvliet. The Haringvliet is a very good zander water with little commercial boat traffic.
Species: zander, perch, asp and smaller numbers of pike.
Hollands Diep
The River Amer and the River Nieuwe-Merwede join at Lage Zwaluwe and there form the River Hollandsch Diep. The river the Dordtsche Kil is connected to the Hollandsch Diep at Moerdijk. The River Hollandsch Diep is very busy with commercial boats but there is a lot of space to fish because of its width. Hollandsch Diep is notable for good numbers of zander.
Species: zander, perch, asp and smaller numbers of pike.
Volkerak
The Volkerak is situated between the Hollandsch Diep at the Volkerak locks and the Grevelingendam. The waters Schelde-Rijnkanaal, the Dintel and the Steenbergsche Vliet run into the Volkerak.
The Volkerak is famous for its big zander and huge pike.
Species: big zander, huge pike and perch
Oude Maas
This river starts where the Beneden-Merwede ends and where the river Noord runs towards Rotterdam. This river has side rivers like the Dordtsche Kil and Het Spui. The Oude Maas is a very busy river with a lot of commercial boat traffic. It holds good numbers of zander.
Species: zander, perch, asp and smaller numbers of pike.
Merwede
The Merwede is connected to the Waal and in earlier days was also connected to the Maas. After the Bergsche Maas had been dug, the river was cut off at Andel. The Merwede is a fast flowing river with a lot of commercial boat traffic and groynes.
Species: Zander, perch and asp with pike in smaller numbers.
Dordtsche Kil
The Dordtsche Kil is a tidal River that connects the River Oude Maas to the River Hollandsch Diep. The Dordtsche Kil is a very busy river for commercial boats, often you see large sea-going ships travelling to Rotterdam or Antwerp. The Dordtsche Kil holds good numbers of zander.
Species: zander, perch, asp and smaller numbers of pike.
Amer
The River Amer is connected to the Bergsche Maas. The Amer starts at Geertruidenberg where the water of the River the Donge joins the water of the Bergsche Maas. The Amer ends into the River Hollandsch Diep. On the north the Amer is connected to National park De Bieschbos. In summer especially it can be quite busy with pleasure boats but this stretch has a very good stock of all predators.
Species: pike, perch, zander and asp.
Maas
The part of the Maas I fish on runs from the locks of Lith to where the Bergsche Maas runs into the river Amer. At Heusden the Maas splits: the Afgedamde Maas was once the connection with the river Merwede. Nowadays the water of the Maas runs west via the Bergsche Maas into the river Amer. The Maas is known for its very big pike but perch and zander can be caught in good numbers too.
Species: pike, perch, zander and asp.
